Melodifestivalen 2017 - "Statements"
In November 2016 it was revealed that Loreen will come back to Melodifestivalen with a new song "Statements" for a chance to represent Sweden again. The song "Statements" she has written together with Anton Hard af Segerstad, Joy Deb and Linnea Deb - the trio behind Mans Zelmerlöw winning song 2015. She participated in semi-final 4 in Skelleftea as the final entry that night. In semi-final she didn't qualify directly to the final and was sent to the Second Chance round. In Second Chance duel with Anton Hagman Loreen surprisingly didn't get enough votes to get to the finals of Melodifestivalen 2017. However, her performance was critically acclaimed and praised by the audience.
Performance: The whole concept and meaning of "Statements" Loreen explained in this article. She described the performance herself in interview: "There is much happening in the world right now, I want to try to inspire and unite, and everyone including myself to focus on the right things. The music is a good way to do it. It's very important for me to be able to get it out.". The performance was directed by Martin Renck and choreographed by Joakim Stephenson. Loreen interpreted the story along with four dancers from Royal Swedish Ballet School. The stage costume was designed by Sara Forsberg.

In 2015 Loreen performed as interval act during the Second Chance round of Melodifestivalen and introduced her new single "Paper Light (Higher)". The song was written by Loreen, Tom Liljegren and Alexander "Alex" Ryberg. During her performance she performed "half-naked" and along with Ukrainian dance group Kazaky. The message behind the number was about questioning gender norms.
Performance: She explained the performance in interview: "It should not be provocative to show my breasts as a woman when it's not when a man does it. I brought with me Kazaky who is a group of men who are extremely feminine, they look more feminine than I do, but what is masculine and what is feminine really? You choose for yourself, says Loreen."

After winning in Eurovision Song Contest 2012, Loreen opened Melodifestivalen 2013 final with her winning song "Euphoria". She introduced new symphonic version of the song and performed with children from Adolf Fredrik Children's Choir and Manilla school for children who are hearing impaired or deaf. This version of "Euphoria" was later released digitally as a new single "Euphoria 2013".

Next year Loreen returned to Melodifestivalen with her entry "Euphoria", written by Thomas G:son and Peter Boström. In the first semi-final she was favourite and advanced directly to the final round. Next month she won the national final with total of 268 points and was sent to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Azerbaijan, Baku.
Performance: The performance was choreographed by Ambra Succi and the concept was inspired by Asian movies Memoirs of a Geisha, Hero and martial arts. Loreen often sat at Ambra's home and they talked about dance, stage clothes, lighting. Loreen and Ambra rehearsed the performance for two months and in January the American dancer Ausben Jordan joined the production. "It is important that everything feels genuine. We wanted it stripped down and put all the emphasis on the song", said Ambra. She has also designed the storyboard for the song as well as the lights. The stage costume was designed by Tommy Granfors. Loreen was involved creatively in whole process of creating both performance and final production of the song. (Article)

In 2011 Loreen participated in Melodifestivalen for the very first time. She performed with song "My Heart Is Refusing Me" which she co-wrote with Moh Denebi and Björn Djupström. It was her first public performance after almost eight years out of spotlight after her participation in Idol 2004. She finished fourth in the second semi-final and was sent to Second Chance round. In the Second Chance duel she didn't qualified for the final after a sing-off with Sara Varga. After official release of the single, the song became a hit on the Swedish Singles Chart and was later re-released for her debut album.
Performance: The performance was choreographed by Ambra Succi, as their first collaboration. On the stage Loreen performed with four dancers and her stage costume was designed by Bea Szenfeld.
